A Bay Area news reporter covering the ACE train derailment in Fremont on Tuesday was almost hit by a car on live TV.

KTVU's Alex Savidge was giving a live report by the side of a road when a car careened into a light stand right where he was standing, forcing him to jump out of the way.

After the incident, Savidge Tweeted "My heart's racing like crazy! Almost got hit by a car live on air, but I'm OK-Thanks everyone for your concern."

Police responded to the scene but it is unclear who was at fault.

Nine people were injured, four seriously, in the Monday night train accident.
