About 200 people marched through downtown Santa Rosa Friday night in protest of Donald Trump assuming office as the 45th president of the United States.

The gathering was a prequel to a larger action planned for today and mirrored other protests that broke out in the Bay Area and across the nation Friday.

The march, spearheaded by a progressive group called the Community Action Coalition, started around 5 p.m. at Santa Rosa Junior College. Chanting demonstrators walked south to Santa Rosa Plaza along roads blocked off by police for safety.

Police Sgt. Justin Farrington said there were no arrests during the protest, which wrapped up around 7:30 p.m. .

“This is just a little expression of our distaste of the current administration,” said Enrique Yarce, an organizer with the coalition.
