Someone tried to rob a bank in Windsor Friday night by cutting a hole in the wall from a neighboring business, according to Windsor police.

Officers were called to the Bank of America on Brooks Road at 7:45 a.m. Saturday after a worker reported that a business under construction next to the bank had been illegally accessed overnight.

Officers investigated and saw that someone had cut a hole in an interior wall separating the business under construction and the bank, and in the process severed a water line, flooding both businesses, according to Windsor police.

The suspect or suspects were able to get into the bank, but failed to breach the vault, police said.

Anyone with information regarding this attempted burglary was urged to call the Windsor Police Department or the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office Property Crimes Investigations unit at 707-565-2185.
