The Napa Fire Department responded to a garage fire at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the 2200 block of Trower Avenue after receiving multiple reports of a large plume of black smoke.

The firefighters were able to save a 500-square-foot section of a 3,000-square-foot detached garage that housed a few cars and various household items such as tools.

“It was well involved upon arrival,” said Napa Capt. Josh Pero. “A couple of cars were salvaged.”

The cause of the fire is under investigation, he said. The estimated loss has not been determined.
