A 55-year-old Santa Rosa man was found dead in Santa Rosa Creek on Tuesday morning by a passer-by, and authorities said Wednesday the death does not appear to be suspicious.

The man, identified as Danny Manuel by the Sonoma County Coroner’s Office, lived in the neighborhood and had a medical history that likely contributed to his death, said Sgt. Spencer Crum, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office. It is unknown how Manuel ended up in the creek and how long he had been there, Crum said.

Additional information about the cause of death was not immediately disclosed. There were no signs of foul play, Crum said.

An autopsy is scheduled, but no investigation is planned either by Santa Rosa police or the Sheriff’s Office, Crum said.
