A Kenwood man with a long history of arrests was in custody Tuesday morning after causing an altercation on a county bus and resisting arrest, according to a Sonoma County sheriff’s official.

A deputy fired a Taser electronic barb at Michael Wagner, 49, to get him to comply, said sheriff’s Sgt. Spencer Crum.

Wagner’s arrest Monday night came after a county bus driver called for help about 8 p.m., reporting an unruly passenger on the bus stopped in Boyes Hot Springs on Highway 12. The deputy heard an altercation as he approached the bus, Crum said.

As the man exited, the deputy began patting him down for weapons. When the man became aggressive, refusing to be handcuffed, the deputy used the Taser. Wagner then was handcuffed and arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest. Wagner was taken to a hospital to get the electronic barb removed then booked into the Sonoma County Jail.

The man now has been arrested 14 times since 2006, all involving misdemeanor crimes, Crum said.
