Missing license plate leads to traffic stop, arrest on Highway 101

A Cazadero man pulled over Wednesday evening for driving his pickup truck without a license plate was found to be driving without a valid license after four prior suspensions and two drunken driving convictions, the CHP said.

Samuel Sanchez Arias, 31, remained in the Sonoma County Jail on Thursday for what authorities said was a violation of his probation.

He is being held without bail, jail personnel said.

Arias was pulled over around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday on southbound Highway 101 at College Avenue in Santa Rosa, authorities said.

He told CHP Officer Kimberly Lemons he had just purchased the Toyota pickup truck last week but that he did not have a driver's license.

When Lemons ran a records check she learned his license had been repeatedly suspended, the CHP said.

Arias was arrested for driving with a suspended license and for violation of his probation, authorities said.
