A Windsor man who stabbed another man to death at a Santa Rosa house for transitioning homeless people was sentenced Monday to nine years in prison.

Kahlil Rahim Keith, 37, was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in the May 2015 slaying of Willie Ray Smith, 47, outside the house on Red Tail Street run by Catholic Charities.

Keith was initially charged with murder but a jury found him guilty of the lesser charge.

Evidence suggested Keith stabbed Smith, known on the street as One-Eyed Willie, after Smith confronted him in an argument over sex.

Keith was sentenced by Judge Robert LaForge. He faced up to 14 years in prison.
