Fire started in a field at the top of Fountaingrove Monday afternoon, burning almost 2 acres before it was put out by a response from several firefighting agencies.

The sloped field, which was traversed by power lines, had recently been “mowed” by sheep but grass was growing again and a strong wind pushed the fire up the hill toward the ridge, Santa Rosa fire Battalion Chief Ken Sebastiani said Tuesday.

“It wasn’t a big fire but it was moving pretty good and a lot of people were concerned,” Sebastiani said.

The fire was put out before it spread close enough to threaten nearby homes along Sky Farm Drive and Glen Eagle Court. Santa Rosa, Rincon Valley, Windsor and Cal Fire firefighters responded.

The cause was under investigation Tuesday.
