Motorcycle rider badly hurt in Fort Bragg crash
Speeding too fast to slow in time for a curve, a motorcycle rider Sunday afternoon crashed on a rural Mendocino County highway, suffering serious injuries, according to the Highway Patrol.
Rider Steven E. Michels, 65, of Willits was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital after the 3:45 p.m. crash on Highway 20. Monday afternoon he was listed in fair condition, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
Michels was riding his 1992 Harley Davidson about 9 miles east of Fort Bragg when he lost control on the curve, the CHP said. The bike overturned and threw him to the ground.
The rider was wearing a helmet and alcohol or drugs weren’t considered a factor in the collision, the CHP said.
