A 67-year-old Petaluma man died Sunday afternoon after he swerved his vehicle across the center median and into a streetlight pole on Sonoma Mountain Parkway, Petaluma police said.

The Petaluma Police and Fire departments responded to the 3:13 p.m. call and found Paul Laprevotte unresponsive in his vehicle just south of Rainier Avenue.

First responders performed life-saving measures on the scene and brought Laprevotte to Petaluma Valley Hospital, where he later died, police said.

Witnesses told authorities that Laprevotte, who was traveling southbound on Sonoma Mountain Parkway, swerved his vehicle left hitting the center median, then went across the street over the northbound curb and finally into the light pole, police said.
