Shooting kills Mendocino County man

Mendocino County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Navarro man suspected of killing an acquaintance.|

A shooting in a rural Mendocino County community Sunday night left one Navarro man dead and another in the Mendocino County Jail, according to the Mendocino County sheriff’s office.

The 55-year-old victim, whose name wasn’t released early Monday, was shot during a dispute, possibly about property, according to detective Sgt. Andrew Porter.

Deputies arrested Michael Jay Saner, 58, of Navarro, suspecting him of the shooting. Saner was found in his car, stopped along the Comptche Ukiah Road.

The shooting was reported at 6:52 p.m. Deputies were called to a home on Sea Biscuit Drive in the Rancho Navarro neighborhood, according to the news release.

The victim was found inside the home.
