Fingerprints help identify slain man in Mendocino County

Authorities say the man, found last week, was 'clearly the victim of a homicide.'|

Fingerprints were used to identify a 19-year-old man whose body was dumped on the side of a road Sept. 13 in Mendocino County, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Ramon Naranjo, believed to be from San Jose, was found dead on Covelo Road, between Covelo and Dos Rios, at 10:30 a.m. and was “clearly the victim of a homicide,” the Sheriff’s Office said.

The cause of death has not been released due to the ongoing investigation, the Sheriff’s Office said. No suspects have been identified and the Sheriff’s Office has asked anyone with information about Naranjo’s location in the days before his death call 707-234-2100.
