CHP officers arrested a Petaluma man early Wednesday morning after he allegedly broke into a truck off Lakeville Highway and threatened the owner.

Casey Brown, 20, smashed the window of a truck, entered the vehicle and began stealing items at a park and ride by Highway 101 around 2 a.m., CHP said.

When the victim returned from work, found Brown in his car and confronted him, Brown pulled out an object resembling a gun and threatened the victim, CHP said.

Brown fled in a Dodge Magnum but was detained by Petaluma police at Garfield Drive and Caulfield Lane within an hour, where CHP made the arrest.

Police found Brown in possession of stolen property and a gear shift handle made to look like a pistol grip, CHP said.

Brown has an extensive criminal record and was booked in Sonoma County Jail for burglary, felony vandalism, violation of probation, brandishing a replica firearm and possession of stolen property, CHP said.
