Receding water levels in Lake Sonoma revealed a stolen truck that had been abandoned in the lake for months, likely since last winter, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

Park rangers discovered the submerged truck Saturday at the Yorty Creek boat ramp on the northern side of the lake, the Sheriff’s Office said. A deputy dove in the truck Sunday and attached a line, allowing a tow truck to pull the vehicle from the lake.

The white Dodge 1500 was reported stolen in Cloverdale last December. Based on its condition, it was likely dumped in the lake shortly after it was taken, the Sheriff’s Office said. High water levels concealed the truck until the weekend.
