Santa Rosa Junior College students assaulted in suspected robbery attempt

Santa Rosa Junior College police say a woman was assaulted in a campus parking lot Tuesday evening in what authorities say was an apparent robbery attempt.

The victim, a student, told police she was walking to her car in the Emeritus parking lot at the north end of the Santa Rosa campus when one of two men standing by an adjacent vehicle grabbed her around the waist.

As she struggled with the first man, the other man punched her in the face, police said.

The incident occurred at about 5:25 p.m. Tuesday, and the woman then drove herself to Kaiser Hospital, where emergency room staffers heard her story and called police at 6:30 p.m., authorities said.

The woman was treated at the hospital and later released, they said.

She described one of her assailants as a white male, aged 25-to-30, standing about 5-foot-6 and weighing 150 to 160 pounds.

He was wearing a dark blue or black pullover sweatshirt, light blue jeans, and black and white Converse type sneakers.

The second man was a male adult, about 6-feet tall, wearing a gray sweatshirt.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call campus police at (707) 527-1000.
