A 21-year-old suspected gang member was found with a loaded handgun Thursday about 200 feet from a Santa Rosa elementary school, authorities said.

Santa Rosa police and Sonoma County probation officers spotted Keichann Jose Primus about 3:23 p.m. by the corner of Simpson Street and West 9th Street, said Santa Rosa Police Sgt. Tommy Isachsen.

The location is about 200 feet from Lincoln Elementary School, Isachsen said.

Officers knew Primus, who’s on felony probation for gang-related weapons convictions, Isachsen said.

A search by officers turned up a loaded Smith and Wesson .38-caliber snub-nose revolver in his pants pocket, according to Santa Rosa police.

Primus was arrested and booked in Sonoma County Jail on five weapon-related felonies and is not eligible for bail because of probation violations, Isachsen said.

The arrest marks the third time in 18 months that Primus has been booked in Sonoma County Jail on weapons charges, Isachsen said.
