In northwest Santa Rosa crash, driver suffers medical emergency, dies

A driver who died Tuesday morning in northwest Santa Rosa apparently had a medical emergency that caused him to crash, according to authorities.

The man, believed to be in his late 70s, was driving in an industrial area near Airport Boulevard when he drove his heavy duty pickup through an intersection and knocked over a stop sign and a light pole about 10 a.m., according to Rincon Valley Fire Capt. Ryan Estes.

His vehicle came to rest against a tree on Copperhill Parkway at Westwind Boulevard, according to Estes.

Firefighters performed CPR on the unidentified man before he was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
