A Santa Rosa man with two prior bank robbery convictions was arrested Monday in connection with a pair of armed holdups at Santa Rosa banks in September.

Jason Richard Fuesz, 48, is suspected of robbing the Chase Bank on Yulupa Avenue on Sept. 13 and the bank’s Guerneville Road branch on Sept. 16.

In each heist, a masked suspect wearing a hooded sweatshirt pointed a black handgun at bank employees and demanded cash. He made off with undisclosed amounts.

Based on similar descriptions, police concluded the same person robbed the banks. An investigation turned up evidence pointing to Fuesz and he was arrested without incident during a traffic stop.

“It was fortunate we were able to take him into custody without a pursuit or shooting,” Sgt. Josh Ludke said.

Fuesz was convicted of armed robberies in 1995 and 2009. In the latter, he and his father robbed a bank in the Oakmont retirement community, Ludke said.

An investigation is ongoing to determine if Fuesz could be responsible for other unsolved robberies, Ludke said.
