Santa Rosa has again hired a large multinational consulting firm to help with fire recovery efforts.

The City Council approved the selection of Ernst & Young for planning and reimbursement work related to Santa Rosa’s recovery from the October wildfires.

The London-based company is one of the world’s largest accounting and professional consulting firms. The city will work with the company’s San Francisco office.

The firm will help the city navigate the “myriad of rules and regulations that govern federal grant programs” and develop its housing recovery plan, according to a city staff report.

The contract is for up to $500,000, costs that should be reimbursable by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, CFO Debbi Lauchner said.

The council approved the contract on a 5-0 vote.

Last month the council approved a $9 million contract with Bureau Veritas North America to establish a separate permit process for the next two years to help fire victims rebuild quickly.
