Sixth night of Hanukkah celebrated at Montgomery Village

The sixth night of Hanukkah was ushered in Sunday at Montgomery Village in Santa Rosa as nearly 200 North Bay residents enjoyed music, potato latkes and hot dogs and pastries.

Sponsored by the Sonoma County Chabad Jewish Center, the celebration included District Attorney Jill Ravitch and Santa Rosa City Council members Julie Combs and Ernesto Olivares.

Mark Katzman, whose Kenwood home burned during the October wildfires, was chosen to light the menorah. It is lit nightly during the eight-day festival to recall the miracle of the rededication of the Temple in Jerusalem after a small band of Jews defeated the armies of the Syrian-Greek king Antiochus IV.
