A 31-year-old San Francisco woman was arrested Friday on suspicion of repeatedly stabbing her 61-year-old husband while he slept in their vehicle in Point Arena, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office reported Saturday.

Sandra Cristina Tsai was booked into the Mendocino County Jail on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and inflicting corporal injury on a spouse. Jail records indicate she was released Saturday after posting a $30,000 bond.

Deputies responded at ?4:35 a.m. Friday to an assault reported on Mill Street in Point Arena, where they found a man being treated for stab wounds. Deputies were told the couple had stopped to sleep at an unknown location on the coast and the husband had been repeatedly stabbed by an unknown man who came upon their vehicle.

After the husband was taken to Mendocino Coast District Hospital in Fort Bragg, deputies learned “further information that was contrary to what was initially reported,” according to a press release.

Deputies ultimately determined that Tsai repeatedly stabbed her husband about 4 a.m. while he slept in their vehicle parked near the Point Arena Pier. The husband eventually disarmed Tsai, and the couple drove about a mile away to Mill Street, where they called 911 for medical assistance.
