Officials investigating the death of a naked man officers had taken into custody at a Sonoma mobile home park last week said Tuesday he was shot three times with Tasers. They also released the names of the deputies involved.

Roderic Bernard Cameron, 44, who lived at the park, died March 28 after the Taser shots and being tied up to prevent the struggling, 300-pound man from harming officers, according to Santa Rosa Police Lt. John Cregan, whose department is investigating the incident, per countywide protocol.

Multiple residents of Sonoma Oaks Mobile Home Park on Ramon Street in Sonoma called 911 around 9:50 p.m. to report a large naked man in the park.

“Deputies realized the significant threat they were facing, and the potential threat to the residents and other people in the area,” according to a press release.

After being handcuffed he continued kicking, so officers used “maximum restraints” involving a nylon cord looped around his waist and ankles.

When deputies realized he wasn’t breathing they removed the cord and began CPR. Cameron was pronounced dead at Sonoma Valley Hospital.

The deputies involved and their law enforcement experience are: John Grohl, 17 years; Nick Deguilio, 10; Taylor Brinkman, 3; Jeff Sherman, 10; Aaron Hunt, 4; Don McCarthy, 12; Lucas Dotta, 5.
