A 33-year-old Santa Rosa man was stabbed multiple times as he walked down a Roseland street with his brother late Saturday night, Santa Rosa police said.
The unidentified man suffered serious wounds but was expected to survive, authorities said. He remained hospitalized Sunday.
Police Sgt. Christopher Mahurin said the man was stabbed after at least two suspects approached him on Sunset Avenue between McMinn and West avenues, around midnight Saturday.
It was unclear what motivated the violence, and it’s possible the man was targeted in a case of mistaken identity, Mahurin said.
The case remains under investigation.
The victim does not live in the neighborhood, but happened to be visiting family, who later brought him to the hospital, Mahurin said.
Police are offering a $2,500 reward through the Sonoma County Alliance “Take Back Our Community Program” for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect or suspects involved in the stabbing.
