Mannequin leaning against fence prompts 911 call in Santa Rosa

The caller said she honked and yelled but the man, who appeared to be staring off into a field, didn’t respond.|

The woman who called 911 early Tuesday was concerned.

It was just after 7 a.m. and she had seen an unresponsive, shirtless man leaning against a fence in southwest Santa Rosa.

The woman told a Redcom dispatcher she’d been sitting in her car, trying to get his attention. She honked. She yelled.

The man, who appeared to be staring off into a field, never responded.

Her 7:13 a.m. emergency call got a Santa Rosa fire engine and a Sonoma Life Support ambulance rolling to the Ludwig Avenue address she provided.

Paramedics arrived first and were able to alert firefighters - to turn around.

The shirtless man was indeed leaning against the fence and staring off into space. But with good reason.

It was a mannequin propped up against the fence.
