Three-car collision with multiple injuries closes Lakeville Highway

Eight people, including children, transported to area hospitals; several in critical condition.|

A near head-on collision involving three vehicles on Lakeville Highway sent eight people - several of them children - to area hospitals Thursday evening, officials said.

The accident, which occurred at Old Lakeville Road No. 2, was first reported at 8:20 p.m. Several people involved in the crash were critically injured, said Lakeville Fire Chief Nick Silva.

Silva said five patients were transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, two to Petaluma Valley Hospital and one to Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Terra Linda. The accident caused the closure of Lakeville Highway, between highways 37 and 116, Silva said.

No other information was available Thursday evening.
