A two-alarm fire did major damage to a Rohnert Park home Saturday as crews from five other fire agencies rushed to assist city firefighters in quickly snuffing the flames.

The blaze, reported by multiple callers about ?2:30 p.m., destroyed two rooms on the second floor and did major damage to a third room, Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety Capt. David Sutter said. The first floor of the home in the 1300 block of Gillpepper Lane sustained smoke and water damage, he said.

The home was in the process of being red-tagged to prohibit occupation, Rohnert Park Sgt. Kelly Koffler said.

Brandon James, who lives nearby, said he spotted rolling flames from the second-story balcony as he drove by on Snyder Lane behind the home. James said he sped around to the front and pounded on the door to warn the residents.

Six people exited the house, including a youth who carried his PlayStation device, James said.

Firefighters estimated damage to the home at $250,000, and the cause was under investigation, officials said.

Crews from the Santa Rosa, Rincon Valley, Gold Ridge, Wilmar and Rancho Adobe fire agencies ?assisted.
