Grass fires doused along Highway 101

Two small grass fires reported on northbound Highway 101 near Arata Lane were quickly contained Sunday afternoon, an emergency dispatcher said.

Beginning at 12:21 p.m., multiple callers reported seeing smoke and flames, a Redcom dispatcher said. Two grass fires, one about 5 by 10 feet and the other 5 by 30 feet, were contained by 12:37 p.m. on the east side of the highway near Los Amigos Road, dispatchers said.

No structures were damaged or threatened, and the highway remained open, the dispatcher said.

Firefighters from Windsor Fire Protection District, Cal Fire, Healdsburg and Santa Rosa fire departments responded.
