Police arrested two teens Monday following a high-speed chase in a stolen pickup through west Santa Rosa.

The pursuit started about 10 a.m. when an officer attempted to pull over a gray Nissan Frontier near the intersection of Cleveland and Edwards avenues, Santa Rosa police Sgt. Dave Linscomb said.

The driver, later identified as Anthony Vega Rodriguez, 18, instead sped off, reaching up to about 70 mph as he ran through red lights and stop signs along Guerneville Road and Cleveland and Range avenues, Linscomb said. The teen then cut through the Coddingtown Mall parking lot before getting to an apartment complex on Range Avenue, where police said he and his 14-year-old passenger jumped out of the moving truck.

The pickup crashed through a fence before rolling onto Herbert Street and hitting a parked car, Linscomb said.

Officers caught the driver on a foot path west of Herbert Street and arrested him on numerous charges, including driving a stolen vehicle, evading police and child endangerment. He also had outstanding arrest warrants, police said.

The 14-year-old girl, who wasn’t identified due to her age, also was arrested on warrants and taken to Sonoma County’s juvenile detention facility, Linscomb said.
