Santa Rosa holds community meeting tonight on emergency alerts

Residents can receive assistance on signing up for SoCo Alert and Nixle and get help charting their own emergency plans.|

Santa Rosa officials will discuss emergency notification and fire detection systems at a community meeting tonight from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Finley Community Center, 2060 West College Ave.

The meeting will include a review of the current systems, with one-on-one assistance in signing up for SoCoAlert and Nixle.

Additional emergency systems the city is considering will be explained and residents are encouraged to suggest other options for monitoring potential threats and notifying the public of an emergency.

Free emergency Go Bags will be available to help families get started on their own emergency plans. Spanish translation will be provided.

Meetings covering the same information will be held Oct. 25 at Binkley Elementary School, Nov. 7 at Roseland Accelerated Middle School and Nov. 14 at Oakmont Village Berger Center.
