The driver who died in a head-on collision with a pickup truck Wednesday morning on Lakeville Highway outside of Petaluma has been identified as Galiano Crispieri, 29, of Vallejo.

The 10:10 a.m. crash also sent three Santa Rosa residents inside the Toyota Tundra to local hospitals. One suffered major injuries and required air transport.

Crispieri, who was behind the wheel of a black Mercedes sedan heading northbound on the highway, crossed into the southbound lanes on a slight curve, according to initial CHP reports. After the collision, his car came to a stop on the guardrail at the edge of the road.

The collision forced motorists to detour around the crash site for about three and a half hours. The roadway fully reopened at about 1:40 p.m., the CHP said.
