Sheriff: Masked men caught during El Verano home burglary
Two Sonoma men wearing Day of the Dead-style masks were arrested Tuesday on suspicion of burglarizing a Sonoma Valley home, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies arrested Brian Webber, 34, and Bryce Finch, 28, Monday morning, while investigating an 11 a.m. call about a suspicious person at a Bay Street home in El Verano.
Each man was charged with two felonies, burglary and conspiracy to commit burglary.
The two were booked into jail, and bail was set at $50,000 for each man.
Deputies arrived in the neighborhood and heard noises coming from a home, where they found signs of a burglary - broken glass and items piled up outside, officials said in a statement.
Deputies surrounded the property and watched as a man walked out of the home wearing a plastic mask over his face and a sweatshirt hood pulled over his head. The man saw deputies and ran back inside, then out the front door and through the neighborhood.
He was found hiding inside a storage shed on Railroad Avenue and was arrested after a short struggle, officials said.
Witnesses had seen a second man running from the home and deputies found him hiding in a Walnut Avenue yard, officials said.
He also had a similar plastic mask and was carrying items from the burglarized home, officials said.
