Santa Rosa resident organizes #StopTheBan protest at Old Courthouse Square

A thousand people are expected to attend Tuesday's #StopTheBan rally in Old Courthouse Square|

Sonoma County residents are joining pro-choice advocates nationwide to protest restrictive abortion laws in states such as Alabama and Georgia.

More than 50 organizations - including the ACLU, Planned Parenthood and Women's March - have coordinated #StopTheBans rallies Tuesday at town squares across the country.

Santa Rosa resident Leslie Graves has planned a demonstration at Old Courthouse Square in Santa Rosa from 5-7 p.m. Graves also is the organizer of Women's March Santa Rosa and expects 1,000 people to attend Tuesday's event.

“I'm leading it, spearheading it, and a great other many organizations and people are part of the process getting the word out,” she said.

The event will continue regardless of any rain forecasted, she added. For more information, visit the Facebook event page “Stop the Bans Rally in Santa Rosa.”

Other rallies are planned at the Lake County Courthouse in Lakeport and Veterans Memorial Park in Napa.
