Woman who died near Dubrava Beach along Russian River identified

The woman who died while swimming in the Russian River near Dubrava Beach this week was identified Thursday as Tanya Jo Furia, 49, of Guerneville.

The Russian River Fire Department responded to an emergency call at about 2:20 p.m. Wednesday, but responders were unable to resuscitate her following a heart-related medical issue. Bystanders had pulled Furia out of the water and administered CPR.

Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office continues investigating to determine the cause of her death.

This is the third death along the river this summer.
