Missing Santa Rosa girl home

A 16-year-old Santa Rosa girl has returned safely home, apparently only recently alerted to the frantic search mounted by her family in the days after she disappeared, police said.

Rebecca Weaver’s family notified police Sunday morning that she had come back home at the urging of an acquaintance, police Sgt. Ron Nelson said. She reportedly had been staying with a friend in Sonoma, he said.

Last seen by family at their northwest Santa Rosa home Wednesday night, the Ridgway High School student said she had been unaware of fliers being posted around town, as well as growing media coverage about her family’s search, until an acquaintance informed her, Nelson said.

Family members were particularly concerned because Weaver requires daily medication for an undisclosed health issue and was not believed to have taken any with her.

It wasn’t clear if Weaver returned home Saturday night or Sunday morning, Nelson said.
