LOS ANGELES - A Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy is under investigation after a video posted online appears to show him ignoring a shooting call so he could chat with his ex-girlfriend and blow her kisses, officials said Thursday.

The video posted on YouTube last month shows Deputy Jeremy Fennell in a patrol car as a dispatcher relays a shooting call.

The deputy, recording a video for his ex-girlfriend as the call comes over, uses colorful language and then looks into the camera and says, "Someone got shot. Oh well."

"I know I gotta go, but I'm not gonna go because you're mad," Fennell says in the video clip. "I want to make things right with me and you."

As the 51-second video clip comes to a close, Fennell blows kisses to the woman and says he'll see her later that evening.

A call to a number listed for Fennell in public records went unanswered Thursday. The union that represents deputies said it looks forward to a full and impartial investigation.

The video was first reported earlier this week by the blog WitnessLA.com.

Fennell's former girlfriend, Priscilla Anderson, told KABC-TV that she posted the video online.

It's unclear when the video was taken. Anderson did not immediately respond to a request by the Associated Press for comment on Thursday.

In a statement, Los Angeles County sheriff's officials said they were aware of the video and had launched an internal investigation. Fennel was relieved of duty on Jan. 25, pending the outcome of the probe, the agency said.

"We are very concerned about what is depicted in the videos and the department is taking appropriate action," the statement said.

Sheriff's Department records show Fennell was arrested on Jan. 25 on suspicion of domestic violence and released hours later.

Shiara Davila-Morales, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County district attorney's office said Thursday that the case is "under review."
