Four vehicles and a big rig collided Tuesday morning on Highway 101 in northern Santa Rosa, backing up traffic for miles, according to the CHP.

What started as a southbound, rear-ender collision just before 9 a.m. turned into a chain reaction of crashes, said CHP Officer Jon Sloat.

When it was over, three SUVs, a sedan and the big rig were scattered in the center divider, the right hand shoulder and in a traffic lane, blocking drivers near the River Road exit.

Traffic backed up into central Windsor, Sloat said.

One person had minor injuries.
