Letter of the Day: More than science

More than science

EDITOR: David Anderson ("Deep Freeze," Letters, Saturday) expressed a thought shared by many just now: How could anyone accept the idea of climate change and global warming with the historic low temperatures we've seen this season?

I saw a cartoon that might help. In the cartoon, a man is attending a climate summit meeting where the speaker lists energy independence, preserve rain forests, sustainability, green jobs, livable cities, renewables, clean water and air, healthy children, etc. The man counters, "What if it's a big hoax, and we create a better world for nothing?"

Sometimes it's worth taking action to make the world a better place quite separately from what your understanding is of the related science.
