A man was apparently killed Sunday evening at the Vagabond Inn in what appears to be the second homicide in Sonoma County since Friday.

At about 7:40 p.m., there were reports of shots being fired at the Santa Rosa hotel, which is located on Cleveland Avenue near Coddingtown Mall.

Santa Rosa police officers, firefighters and paramedics arrived to find one man dead of apparent gunshot wounds in a first-floor room.

The suspect or suspects reportedly fled in a car. The victim had not yet been identified by early Monday.

Most of the parking lot was blocked off with crime scene tape as police were continuing to investigate early Monday. A clerk at the front desk said he could not comment and referred questions to the hotel’s owner who he said was out of town.

An armed security guard in the lobby also refused comment, referring questions to his boss.

In Agua Caliente on Friday, Joshua Javier Gonzalez, 19, was booked into the Sonoma County jail on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter in the death of Mario Zamudio Perez, 25. Perez of Sonoma Valley got into a fight with Gonzalez at about 5:30 p.m. outside the Valley of the Moon Teen Center. He died at Sonoma Valley Hospital a short time later.
