Florida Gov. Rick Scott is making another trip to California, ostensibly to recruit employers to move to the Sunshine State. As political theater goes, it’s hardly original. Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry made his own poaching trips, at least until he started publicly musing about moving here himself. California Gov. Jerry Brown responded Monday with a double-fisted put-down of Florida and Texas:

“I’m writing to welcome you back to California - a state that in the last year has added more jobs than Florida and Texas combined,” Brown said in a letter to Scott. “Rick, a fact you’d like to ignore: California is the 7th largest economic power in the world. We’re competing with nations like Brazil and France, not states like Florida.” Well said, governor.
