A Lake County man has been arrested on suspicion of shooting to death two people in Humboldt County on Wednesday evening.

Jason Michael Arreaga, 29, of Lucerne was booked into the Humboldt County Correctional Facility on two counts of homicide, according to the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office. He’s being held on $1 million bond, officials said.

The victims are Angel Robin Tully and Harley Wayne Hammers Jr. , both 37 and of Eureka. The victims and the suspect were involved in an argument, sheriff’s officials said. Officials would not reveal the source of the dispute.

The deaths were reported just after 5 p.m. in Fieldbrook, about 7 miles northeast of Arcata, sheriff’s officials said.

Tully died at the scene while Hammers was pronounced dead at Mad River Community Hospital, officials said.

An investigation led to Arreaga as a suspect. He was spotted driving south on Highway 101, stopped and arrested, officials said.
