Thumbs down: Arming toddlers? Really?

You don't have to be a gun-control zealot to understand that small children shouldn't be given firearms, do you? We ask because it doesn't appear that comedian Sacha Baron Cohen had to work very hard to persuade Second Amendment supporters, including a member of Congress, to endorse a ridiculous proposal to arm toddlers.

Rep. Joe Wilson, R-South Carolina and others complain they were duped into appearing on Cohen's new Showtime program, “Who is America?” They were duped. Heck, they were punked. But there was Wilson - the congressman who shouted “you lie” as President Barack Obama addressed Congress in 2009 - saying 3-year-olds can't defend themselves from an assault rifle “by throwing a Hello Kitty pencil case at it.” Other segments features puppy pistols and gun bunnies - firearms resembling stuffed toys.

Cohen's “guests” are angry about being deceived. They ought to be embarrassed that, unlike a Riverside gun store owner, they fell for this gag and endorsed guns for small children. Thumbs down.
