Registration begins for annual Girls Sports Expo

Registration is open for the hundreds of girls who typically attend the Girls Sports Expo held every January at Santa Rosa Junior College.

The 17th annual event is scheduled for Jan. 26 and provides participants a chance to sample a variety of team and individual sports. The goal is to inspire girls to move, be athletic and start toward a life of fitness.

Girls in third through sixth grades can sign up for four mini-seminars on different activities, including swimming, fencing, tai kwon do, basketball, track, golf and hip-hop dancing.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. at Haehl Pavilion. The event runs until 1 p.m. Active wear and appropriate footwear are required. Sandals and high heels are not permitted.

More information and registration forms are available at girlscoutsnorcal.org/documents/Girls_Sports_Expo.pdf.

Drop-in registration will be permitted, if space allows.

Volunteers are needed and can contact Kelley Garshman at garshman4@aol.com.

The event is sponsored by the Girl Scouts of Northern California, the Women's Sports Foundation and Santa Rosa Junior College.
