Upcoming Northern California food and wine festivals in 2017

June 1-4 — Auction Napa Valley, St. Helena: A series of vintner-hosted dinners, tours and tastings culminate with the live auction, June 3. Witness bidders raise millions of dollars for charity in a single afternoon. Highbrow celebrities who have attended include Oprah and John Legend. June 10 — North Coast Wine & Food Festival, Rohnert Park: Held at the SOMO Village Event Center, the annual festival features 90 gold medal wines from the North Coast Wine Challenge, 18 wine country chefs, entertainment and educational talks. Visit celebrity chef John Ash this year at his “make your own grilled pizza station.” The festival is 1-4 p.m. Tickets: $50-$135. 707-526-8604.

June 10 — Beerfest, Santa Rosa: Sample a range of regional beers and ciders from over 60 brewers at the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts. There will be barrel-aged brews, hop bombs and lighter ales in the mix. The event is 1-5 p.m. General admission is $50. 707-544-1581.

June 10 — Taste of Mendocino, San Francisco: In the Gallery 308 building of San Francisco’s Fort Mason Center, more than 30 Mendocino wineries will be pouring alongside tasty delicacies from artisan food producers. The event is 1-5 p.m. Tickets are $60. 415-345-7575.

July 8 — Wine Country Big Q, Petaluma: This barbecue festival and competition sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbecue Society heats up at the Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds from 1 to 5 p.m. with all kinds of contests, from beans to bacon desserts. Sample barbecued meats, world-class wines, craft beers and spirits while enjoying rock and blues music. Tickets: $20-$75. 707-837-1928.

July 14-16 — Gay Wine Weekend, Sonoma Valley: The festivities feature three days of LGBT events — winemaker dinners, winery tours, and even music and dancing on a private estate vineyard. The official host hotel is Sonoma Valley Inn, in Sonoma. Tickets: $195-$495. 707-938-9200.

July 22 — Zin & BBQ Festival, Healdsburg: Four Sonoma county chefs compete in a barbecue smackdown from 1 to 5 p.m. at Seghesio Family Vineyards’ newly updated picnic grove. Live music, great grilled dishes and Seghesio wines round out the afternoon. Tickets: $75. 707-395-3609.

Aug. 20 — 20th Anniversary Party for The Girl & the Fig, Sonoma: To celebrate its 20th anniversary, The Girl & the Fig restaurant will throw a dinner party for the community from 6 to 9:15 p.m. The menu includes favorite dishes from the past 20 years, from fig and arugula salad to crispy duck confit. Aug. 26-27 — Bodega Seafood, Art & Wine Festival, Bodega: Live music, wine and microbrew beer tasting, seafood vendors, arts and crafts and kids’ activities round out the fun at this summer festival. 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 26, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 27. Sept. 2-3 — Taste of Sonoma, Rohnert Park: At Sonoma State’s Green Music Center, more than 200 wineries will be pouring, with more than 60 local chefs offering pairings. There also will be seminars and demonstrations on topics that delve into the craft of winemaking from terroir to technique. Tickets range from $150-$330. 855-939-7666.

Sept. 16 — Sonoma County Wine Auction, Windsor: Paddle-holders will spend the afternoon at the La Crema Estate at Saralee’s Vineyard tasting locally crafted food and wine while bidding on a range of auction items that includes collectibles and travel. Noon-7 p.m. 855-939-7666.

Sept. 9 — Winesong Charity Auction, Mendocino: Nestled within the Botanical Gardens, north of the town of Mendocino, the Winesong Charity Auction features both silent and live auction lots with a range of offerings. Choose from large format bottlings and trips across the globe with getaway packages to locations such as Tuscany, France and the Caribbean. The auction is from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. 707-961-4924.

Oct. 6-8 — Sonoma County Harvest Fair, Santa Rosa: At the Sonoma County Fairground’s Tasting Pavilion epicureans can sip, swirl and graze through award-winning wine, beer, cider and food from this year’s competition. More than 100 Sonoma County wineries will be pouring, offering a taste of more than 300 wines. Tasting Oct. 6 is 4-9 p.m.; tasting Oct. 7 & 8 is 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Tickets: $55-$140. 707-545-4200.
