A group of advocates for Sonoma Clean Power, the county’s new public electricity supplier, will host an informational forum on clean energy Tuesday night at the Rohnert Park Library.

The Rohnert Park City Council is expected to vote later this year on joining the upstart power agency, which began serving customers in Santa Rosa, Sebastopol, Cotati, Windsor, Sonoma and the unincorporated areas of the county in May. Cloverdale voted to join the agency last month and Petaluma is expected to vote later this year.

The agency touts that 33 percent of the power it supplies comes from renewable sources compared with PG&E’s 22 percent renewable portfolio.

The event is hosted by the Santa Rosa-based Climate Protection Campaign, Daily Acts, Sonoma Mountain Village, 350 Sonoma County, Solar Sonoma County and the Center for Community Engagement at Sonoma State University.

The free event will run from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Rohnert Park Library, 6250 Lynne Condé Way. Sonoma Clean Power CEO Geof Syphers will be on hand to answer questions.
