Matt Cain, Javier Lopez and Brian Wilson combine on a three-hit shutout. Cody Ross contributes an RBI single.

Game 4: Giants 6, Phillies 5

Buster Posey goes 4-for-4 and Juan Uribe launches a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth.

Game 5: Phillies 4, Giants 2

Roy Halladay gets the better of Tim Lincecum in their NLCS rematch and pushes the series back to Philadelphia.

Game 6: Giants 3, Phillies 2

World Series

Game 1: Giants 11, Rangers 7

An expected Tim Lincecum-Cliff Lee duel turns into an offensive show. Freddie Sanchez goes 4-for-4 and Juan Uribe hits a three-run home run.

Game 2: Giants 9, Rangers 0

Matt Cain pitches 72/3 scoreless innings and Edgar Renteria homers and has three RBIs.

Game 3: Rangers 4, Giants 2

Colby Lewis combines with two relievers to get Texas its first win of the series.

Game 4: Giants 4, Rangers 0

Madison Bumgarner pitches eight scoreless innings, Buster Posey homers and Brian Wilson strikes out the last two batters for the save.

Game 5: Giants 3, Rangers 1

Edgar Renteria’s three-run home run breaks a scoreless tie in the seventh to back Tim Lincecum, who strikes out 10 and allows just three hits in eight innings. Brian Wilson puts the Rangers down in order in the ninth, striking out Nelson Cruz to clinch the championship.

An unearned run in the 10th gives the Giants their first lead in the series and Sergio Romo pitches a clean bottom half for the save.

Game 4: Giants 8, Reds 3

Tim Lincecum earns his first postseason win as a reliever when the Giants score three times in the seventh on Marco Scutaro’s RBI double and Pablo Sandoval’s two-run homer.

Game 5: Giants 6, Reds 4

The Giants score all their runs in the fifth inning with Buster Posey delivering the big blow, the third grand slam in franchise postseason history. \

Game 1: Cardinals 6, Giants 4

Carlos Beltran and David Freese homer for the Cardinals, who use seven pitchers to secure the win.

Game 2: Giants 7, Cardinals 1

Marco Scutaro has a two-run single in the Giants’ four-run fourth inning and Ryan Vogelsong limits St. Louis to four hits in seven innings.

Game 3: Cardinals 3, Giants 1

Matt Carpenter hits a two-run homer and the Cardinals’ bullpen finishes the job after a 31/2-hour rain delay in the seventh inning.

Game 4: Cardinals 8, Giants 3

St. Louis roughs up Tim Lincecum and the bullpen and the Giants can’t solve Adam Wainwright, who gives up just four hits in seven innings.

Game 5: Giants 5, Cardinals 0

Facing elimination, the Giants send Barry Zito to the mound. He limits the Cardinals to six hits in seven innings, retiring 11 batters in a row at one point, and also has an RBI single in the fourth inning.

Game 6: Giants 6, Cardinals 1

The Giants jump to a 5-0 lead after two innings and Ryan Vogelsong makes it stand up with seven innings of four-hit pitching to force Game 7.

Game 7: Giants 9, Cardinals 0

The Giants rough up Cardinals starter Kyle Lohse with seven runs in the first three innings and Matt Cain pitches his second series-clincher of the 2012 postseason.

WORLD SERIES

Game 1: Giants 8, Tigers 3

Pablo Sandoval hits three home runs to join Babe Ruth, Reggie Jackson and Albert Pujols as the only men to do that in a World Series game. Barry Zito outpitches reigning Cy Young Award winner Justin Verlander.

Game 2: Giants 2, Tigers 0

Madison Bumgarner pitches seven scoreless innings and the Giants scratch out a go-ahead run on a double play after Gregor Blanco’s bunt stays in fair territory to load the bases.

Game 3: Giants 2, Tigers 0

Ryan Vogelsong pitches 52/3 scoreless innings, Gregor Blanco has an RBI triple and Brandon Crawford drives him home with a single in the second inning.

Game 4: Giants 4, Tigers 3 (10 innings)

Marco Scutaro’s RBI single in the top of the 10th gives the Giants a lead and Sergio Romo closes out the seventh world championship for the Giants franchise by getting Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera to watch a called third strike for the final out.
