49ers' offensive lineman Anthony Davis meets with Greg Roman over tweet (w/video)

SANTA CLARA — San Francisco 49ers tackle Anthony Davis is fairly outspoken. Still, he had little to say about his tweet that challenged his offensive coordinator's choices this year.

Davis and Greg Roman met Friday at the coach's request.

'No issue, no emotion, Davis said. 'I respect him as a man.'

Davis, who missed nine games for the 49ers with injuries, sent out a message on Twitter that was seen as a critical of Roman.

'Greg Roman to me when I was 21: 'You know we can get someone off the street to do what you do,' #LifeComesAtYou Fast.'

'There's a lot of talent here,' Davis said Friday. 'The most talent I've ever been around. Power has worked the previous years here. Maybe we tried to trick them this year.'

Davis hopes to start Sunday's season finale against the Arizona Cardinals, after which the team faces an uncertain future.

Davis said, 'everybody knows where it's going,' when asked about the current coaching staff. He later added, 'I don't want to be closed-minded about a new coach coming in.'

49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said Davis' tweets were 'misguided.'

While Davis prepares for his last game of the season, wide receiver Trindon Holliday is preparing for his first game with the team.

Holliday, who worked out for the 49ers several weeks ago, was signed to a two-year deal and will suit up this weekend. He hopes to be returning punts and/or kickoffs. 'I'll have to wait and see Sunday but I'll do the best I can,' Holliday said. 'I'll go out and do what I can do and see what happens.'

A former sixth-round draft pick of the Houston Texans, Holliday has been in several organizations the past four years, most recently with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

'We had talked to Trindon a little bit in the offseason about signing on,' Harbaugh said. 'He went to another team. Hopefully he creates a spark and, for him personally, shows that he can get the job done, as he has in the past.'

Joe Looney, inactive last week, will start in place of offensive lineman Alex Boone, who was placed on the Injured Reserve List with a torn meniscus that may require minor surgery.

Looney also started the season opener when Boone reported late after holding out for most of training camp.

Safety Eric Reid, who sustained a concussion Saturday against the San Diego Chargers, was limited in practice Friday and was declared out for Sunday, as were running back Carlos Hyde (ankle), and wide receiver Steve Johnson (knee).

NFL fines handed down this week included $10,000 to WR Anquan Boldin for hitting an opponent in the head and $22,050 to OL Joe Staley for insulting a referee.
