Rincon Valley Christian disbands its girls soccer program

School officials blame low player turnout; girls team will be combined with the boys’ squad.|

Rincon Valley Christian High School has disbanded its girls soccer program because of low player turnout, according to school officials.

The Eagles, who finished, 13-7 last season and 10-6 in the North Central II league, lost just five of their 15-player roster to graduation in the spring. The squad finished 12-9-1 and 7-7 in league in 2013.

The school is combining the girls team with the boys’, according to athletic director assistant, Tamara Pitman.

The Eagles’ first game is at 4:30 p.m. at home against Point Arena.
