St. Helena remained undefeated with a convincing 41-13 victory against visiting Kelseyville. It kept the Saints tied with Fort Bragg atop the NCL standings. Both teams are 2-0 in league play and 5-0 overall.

St. Helena built a 27-0 halftime lead and increased it to 41-0 before Kelseyville (0-2, 0-4) scored in the fourth quarter.

“We played well up front defensively and shut down their running game,” St. Helena coach Brandon Farrell said. “We hit some big passes when we needed to early in the game.”

The Saints were led by running back Jahavier Otero, who rushed 19 times for 117 yards and one score. Reciever Alfio Basile had 80 yards receiving on two catches, both touchdowns (55 and 25 yards). Basile also had a 51-yard punt return touchdown.

MIDDLETOWN 43, WILLITS 8

The Mustangs (2-2, 1-1) upset the previously unbeaten Wolverines (4-1, 1-1) in their second consecutive road victory.

“We were able to move the ball against them early,” Middletown coach Bill Foltmer said. “Offensively we scored on almost every possession we had in the first half.”

Middletown’s Coleman Drew had 179 yards rushing on 13 carries and had four scores.

“Willits went to the shotgun when they were down and they were having a hard time snapping the ball which really hurt their attempt at a comeback,” Foltmer said.

After a scoreless first quarter the host Eagles (3-2, 1-1) racked up 34 points in the second quarter to take charge. The Cardinals (1-4, 0-2) never recovered from the onslaught.

Cloverdale was led by running back Luke Bernardi with 203 yards rushing on 21 carries and three scores (runs of 1, 15, 10 yards). Eagles receiver Marcus Poe had 52 yards receiving on two catches for two scores.

“Our defense was awesome tonight,” Anderson Valley coach Danny Kuny said. “We haven’t had anyone run on us all year.”

Anderson Valley quarterback Tony Pardini connected with receiver Erin Perez for three touchdown passes (40, 41 and 40 yards).

“Perez was just faster than their guys in the secondary,” Kuny said.
