High school boys soccer: Healdsburg scoring barrage beats Piner 5-1

Healdsburg scored three goals in a four-minute span midway through the first half and went on to defeat visiting Piner, 5-1, in an SCL match Wednesday night.

Diego Jimenez got the offense rolling for Healdsburg (9-1 overall, 5-1 SCL). Soon after his goal, Gerardo Duran and Jorge Cervantes found the back of the net. “The goal by Jimenez gave us a lift,” coach Herbert Lemus said. “That loosened us up.

“The score looks lopsided but in reality Piner played well. We made the most of our opportunities.”

The Prospectors scored the first goal of the second half with Sam Pacheco assisting Elmer Pineda. Healdsburg responded with goals by Juan Nuno and Sergio Morelos.

ELSIE ALLEN 5, ANALY 2

At Sebastopol, Carlos Lemus scored three goals to lead the Lobos to victory. “He was the best player on the field,” Tigers coach Peter Meechan said.

Also scoring for Elsie Allen were Jose Lopez and Ulisses Espinoza.

The Analy goals came from Abel Hernandez and Quinn Vermeulen.

The score was 3-1 at halftime.

ROSELAND PREP 2, ST. VINCENT 0

At Santa Rosa, the Knights won their eighth in a row and remain atop the NCL II standings with a 5-0 record.

Jesus Cazarez scored in the first half and Enrique Sanchez converted a penalty kick after intermission.

“The back line played strong and we were able to keep them away from the goal,” Roseland coach Tino Fonzeca said. “It was an evenly-matched game with both teams playing good defense.”

Diego Anguiano was in goal the first half for Roseland and Alvaro Sanchez took over in the second.

Overall, the Knights are 8-2-1 and in league, they’ve outscored their opponents, 21-5.
